Saeid Khan has a great passion for the mountains and a deep knowledge of industrial construction. The passion and the knowledge have been in his life for a long. His love for the mountains and nature comes from his inclination towards metaphysics and imagination, while his career in construction comes from realism, technology, and logic. Udaan Park / Studio Saar

September 7, 2023 Hana Abdel 0

International architecture practice Studio Saar has redeveloped Udaan Park, a community park in Udaipur, Rajasthan, for its not-for-profit client Dharohar. The newly transformed landscape sees an underused, run-down lakeside park evolve into an accessible and inclusive public space. Set on the banks of Swaroop Sagar, one of Udaipur’s seven historic lakes that attract a large number of migratory birds. Udaan is one of the very few public open spaces in the center of the city and on the banks of a lake. The redevelopment is the first park to be completed in Dharohar’s city-wide, community-led initiative, ‘10 Lakh Vriksh’ to revive a series of parks and gardens and to provide more breathable, green spaces for the city and its people.

Spatial Intensity. Without density, there is no space, and pure space without people is even more meaningless. Spatial warmth refers to the amount of time people spend in a space per unit of time. The design of public spaces in the new campus of Jingjiang Senior High School in Jiangsu Province is based on this concept. It is built around the idea of student movement routes and forms spatial hotspots at locations where intersections are more likely.

Katouzian House / NOIR Studio

We faced two challenges: The first was the location and geometrical situation of the site. Unlike ordinary sites, this plot is surrounded by neighbors on four sides. Its only access to the main passage is by two alleys with 3 meters width in the north and south of it. The irregular geometry of the site and heterogeneous angles of neighbors towards the site were among the issues ahead in designing this building.
