This single-family house, located on Camino del Llor de Sant Boi de Llobregat, is conceived from a simple premise: to protect and enclose itself from close neighbors and streets, opening to the East and South to take full advantage of sunlight.
There was the backyard where my grandfather kept a vegetable garden next to the house which, in the past, was the family’s residence — still from a distant time when there was no running water or electricity. When I was a child and spent time with my grandparents, I liked to go to the “quintal” (backyard), as it was called. At that time the house only served as support for the vegetable garden and shelter for a small rabbit and chicken farm. I’ve always liked the long, narrow, walled-in backyard setup.
The Veiled House is located in the small town of Kundapura on India’s western coast. It has been built for a family who grew up in this town and are part of this vibrant prosperous community. The house however is designed to satiate their longing for anonymity and privacy, which become rare commodities in small towns such as Kundapura.
An inclusive environment for rehabilitation and nursing – This project was undertaken by a corporation that has been involved in supporting severely mentally and physically handicapped persons. The building holds child development support, nursery, pediatric medical care, and consultation all in one place. It aims to create an inclusive environment where everyone can feel close to the community and where not only the users but also their families can live comfortably.

Situated near the historic “Taiwan-Renga” (台灣煉瓦) brick kiln from 1899 that prospered in this working-class district in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, the Veil House revisits this history by weaving a modern, tapestry-like façade utilizing floating clay bricks. In a district with very narrow streets, close proximity to neighbors, and a hyperactive social fabric, privacy is often compromised. To maintain boundaries, windows are often shaded throughout the day; outdoor spaces, such as balconies and terraces, are left largely unused.

Wheatland House is a warm, light-filled home in a quiet, tree-lined suburban neighborhood. The brief is one familiar to the practice: balance the heritage constraints of an original house (in this case, Edwardian-era) with the needs of a growing family. The clients also developed a sensory direction that would make the house feel calming and soft to the touch.
