DOM LAS (‘Forest House’ in Polish) is a project born from a specific situation. 25 years ago, the client bought an empty field near his hometown with the vision to create something for the future. Through care and attention, the 7 hectares have been tended to, trees planted, and grasslands shaped. The careful process of silviculture with selective weeding and thinning of young pine and birch tree saplings has turned this disused field into an attractive and varied landscape, reflecting the native flora of the region.

Saudi Arabia is reportedly looking to raise a loan of 10 billion riyals to develop its controversial Neom region that includes the 170-mile-long city, The Line. According to media company Bloomberg, the loan, which is equivalent to $2.7 billion, will be used to fund the early stages of the project. Neom declined to comment on the news.

Project Plum Grove pioneers a university-village action-research partnership to revive the 360-year-old Hakka village of Mui Tsz Lam (MTL) in Hong Kong’s remote north-east New Territories. Literally meaning “Plum Grove”, MTL is only 25km from Mong Kok, one of the world’s densest neighborhoods. As part of a historic farming village cluster in Sha Tau Kok, the village was abandoned since mass migration abroad in the 1960s-70s. Now half-buried, its authentic cultural landscape of rowhouses, feng shui woods, and terraced fields with streams is still visible.
