Vennesla Church / LINK arkitektur

June 30, 2023 Hadir Al Koshta 0

The new Vennesla church is a cornerstone for a larger church complex in Vennesla and will be a new landmark in the county of Agder, Norway. The building balances between a sacred and sculptural expression, with joint use across generations for the congregation and the church employees. The church is situated in a church grove extending from The Fjord of Vennesla. Between the church and the cemetery, an open space has been established that pulls together the footpaths towards the area from the south, west, and north, and is framed by the bell tower which also marks the church’s main entrance. The new church will supplement the old Vennesla church and function as the main church in the parish. LINK Arkitektur has designed a bright and inviting facility for multiple activities. An efficient and open floor plan is adapted to multi-use and appears inviting and easily accessible to the congregation and employees.

The Architectural Language of Scaffoldings in Cityscapes: Exploring the Impact of These Temporary Structures

June 30, 2023 Paul Yakubu 0

As one takes a visual tour through the city, one might spot structures that break the rhythm of finished architectural products. These are buildings encased in grids of metal or wooden sections, sometimes wrapped in colored nets, that communicate a moment of construction, repair, renovation, or demolition. They are called scaffolding systems, temporary structures built in the city to aid in the erection or maintenance of buildings. However, they have evolved to speak their own architectural language. As city-making is a continuous process, scaffolds serve as beacons, proposing silhouettes of the height, shape, or forms of new buildings. They step into the sidewalks, acting as shade or obstructions to the flow of human and vehicular traffic. In contrast to the permanence of architecture, they exhibit a sense of temporality that helps communicate time, the growth of neighborhoods, and the evolution of a city.

Yoga House / Cát Môc Group

The west-facing house is full of green trees. The house’s “coat” to withstand heat is created by the green area that extends from the interior to the exterior and the brick wall with numerous ventilation holes. A four-person family’s home is situated in a congested neighborhood in District 11 of Ho Chi Minh City. The west-southwest position should see intense sun radiation and direct heat in the afternoon. The construction land area of 185m2 is also limited, not square. The owner desires a cool living environment with plenty of trees to soften the impact of the weather.
