The NGÕ Alley House / D.O.G House

May 2, 2023 Hana Abdel 0

Idea “NGÕ” in English means “alley”, and is a typical community in the urban core area. The concept of an alley archetype is deeply rooted in Vietnamese culture, which is usually as narrow and long as a capillary connecting many households or generations in a big family. The alley is a link between inside and outside, public and private, and childhood and adulthood. The idea originates from the long and narrow position of the land plot, which is not square but organically closely related to the residential cluster.

The Best of Both Worlds: Ray Tracing and Rasterization

Visualization and technology have long gone hand in hand. It is, after all, a means of representing architecture that has relied on technological developments to keep up with the demands of a growing audience across multiple industries. But the fact that the two are inseparable does not mean that technology should dictate the way in which visualization is used. As technology advances, so too does its ability to become less obtrusive, allowing technological know-how to take a back seat in favor of the creative process and design exploration.

Tsai butcher shop is our home and office in Geelong. The project is divided into 2 stages, the shopfront and office fit-out are completed as stage 1, with the house renovation to the back as stage 2 to be completed next year. The project got its name as the building was once a local butcher shop, we had a vision to convert it into a shopfront house, with an architects’ office and retail shop to the front, and a residential home to the back, the ultimate work-from-home pad.

151 Toorak Road Commercial and Office Building / Bird de la Coeur Architects

May 2, 2023 Hana Abdel 0

151 Toorak Road is a 6-story office building with a ground-floor restaurant occupying the corner of Darling Street on a restricted site in an inner-city suburb of Melbourne. It responds to its heritage neighbors with an innovative Flex Brick second-skin facade over a traditional brickwork base. The design is drawn from careful analysis of the brick patterning on the former 1890s South Yarra Post Office opposite, coupled with the need to protect the west facade from heat load, while maintaining views.

The Courtyard House / MODO Designs

May 1, 2023 Hana Abdel 0

The site is in a plotting scheme on the outskirts of Ahmedabad on 45,000 sq ft of land. The brief given by the owner was a 4-bedroom house with a living, study, and entertainment area. The owner wanted an open house and hence conceptual layout started with layouts when courtyards and semi-open verandah spaces. Since there were only the owner and his father to be staying while the daughter would be visiting at times, hence it was openness that was preferred over closed secured spaces. The house is an amalgamation of a series of courtyards, such as an entry court, a central court, a dining area court, a shower court, and a pool court making it a very open house allowing natural elements within.
