BIG named as masterplanner of Neom’s octagonal port city

Danish studio BIG has been named as the masterplanner of the floating port city of Oxagon, which is part of the Neom development in Saudi Arabia, at an exhibition at the Venice Architecture Biennale. The studio is listed as a contributor to the Neom project alongside UK studio Adjaye Associates, Austria studios Coop Himmelb(l)au and Delugan Meissl Associated

A House in a suburban garden. The housing plan is structured in order to take advantage of the best orientations in a 20 x 50-meter lot within a private neighborhood of the city of Funes. With the intention of having a more direct north, since the first 20 meters of the neighboring lot is blocked by the adjoining house, it was decided to solve the requested program for the house using the social areas as the main structure of the ground floor that It develops towards the back of the land and the private areas on the upper floor.

Natural materials, combined with a robust and modern design, form the perfect combination in this villa, located in the dunes of Zeeland, the Netherlands. To reach the entrance you walk up the artistically designed stairs that climb the dune. At first glance, the facade contains a large number of windows that create a pleasant connection between the outside and inside. This experience is enhanced the moment you enter the house. The view becomes an extension of the rooms and this gives a breathtaking effect, especially at sunset.
