Herzog & de Meuron Reveal Plans to Upgrade London’s Liverpool Street Station

Architecture office Herzog & de Meuron have unveiled plans to revamp the Liverpool Street station in London. The scheme includes “vital upgrades” aimed at transforming the Victorian-era station into a fully accessible transportation hub fit to accommodate the 135 million people using the station annually. It also includes the addition of 840,000 square meters of offices and a 190,000 square feet hotel in two new structures, 10 and 6 stories high, respectively. These new interventions have attracted criticism from conservation groups. The proposal is currently undergoing its first round of public consultation. The development is overseen by Stellar, working with MTR, the operator of rail transport services and Network Rail.

Tempo Almafuerte School Intervention / Además arquitectura

Tempo. “Relative speed with which the action happens”. It is an intervention for a school in a precarious environment, inserted in the Buenos Aires suburbs. The 9 de Abril neighborhood in the province of Buenos Aires. The order is made by the family that manages the school, for which it requires us to provide a solution for access to some classrooms on the upper level. Although the requirement was a ladder; the access point and relationship with the main courtyard of all levels of the school, triggered multiple opportunities for us.

This year’s winning architectural projects highlight the importance of inclusive design, taking into account sustainability and designing with a sensible response to the local communities and landscapes they inhibit. The two-day ceremony was held in Amman, Jordan on November 16-17, 2022, and gathered hundreds of regional architects, urban planners, engineers, and designers of all demographics to explore and engage in discussions about architecture and the future of the built environment in the Arab region.

South-facing views capture nearby islands and, in the summer months, a dense array of sailboats. Every year, the region celebrates Chester Race Week: a sailing regatta over 150 years old, born from the area’s rich nautical history.

Ningbo Cultural and Creative Port Phase I Building / One Design

This project retrofits an old warehouse on the riverbank into a new function of exhibition, cultural, and sales center. It is located on the north bank of the Yong River, not far from the city center of Ningbo, as part of the first phase of the Creative Ports. The area, formerly an intermodal area that presents the old north railway station, the 3rd industrial port, and the associated warehouses, is now being redeveloped to accommodate mixed uses in the vision of a new urban creative industry incubator.
