Faena Arts Center / Mc Cormack Asociados

October 3, 2022 Andreas Luco 0

The Faena Art Center is the building that closes the complex. Embraced by the Molino Sur and by the previously mentioned “L” shaped building, with a façade on Azucena Villaflor and Aime Paine streets, it is the remodeling and expansion of the sector where the complex’s engine room was originally housed. It is basically a two-story building, the ground floor and a triple-height first floor, which is transformed into a large “T”-shaped space for multiple uses. The sector is completed with complementary services, which are housed in an underground sector, on the terrace, and in a new building that is added on the corner.

3C2C House / Citic

October 3, 2022 Andreas Luco 0

This is a residential single-family housing project on the south shore of Lake Rupanco, in the Los Lagos Region. The house is developed in three volumes or houses joined by two connectors (3C2C) transparent to the environment and the different views offered by Lake Rupanco and its surroundings. The shape of the floor plan is made up of three elongated and independent volumes, two of them with a second floor for bedrooms. This typology seeks to lighten the total volume of the house by dividing it into three, leaving some air between them, and allowing for trees to stand between the houses. In addition, the three independent levels of each one of the volumes are joined together through a light ramp.

Rates House / ATELIERDACOSTA

The plot, very long but nevertheless wide, faced the street in the low level and a big field in the high level. This difference of  heights creates a big difference of quadrats, almost creating two separate worlds in the same plot. The existing house in schist holds a romanic church capitel in its facade and arose an initial debate of how to preserve it with the local authorities, due the state of total ruin and the intentions to extend the house to more than its double .

OLG50 House / Sara Elizagarte + OE Arkitektura

October 3, 2022 Andreas Luco 0

Located in the centre of Vitoria, OLG5O is a former dental clinic converted into a home for a couple. The shape, the terrace and the luminosity were key when it came to developing this functional home that avoids a conventional refurbishment. The original state of the flat was none other than what one might expect from a clinic: a corridor and many partitions that were demolished to leave an open-plan space. A space that posed quite a challenge because, although a rectangular floor plan is very grateful when it comes to distribution, all the rooms had to be housed, avoiding new partitions and thus making the most of all the light that came in.

Twelve dramatic skybridges that push the limits of engineering

October 3, 2022 Nat Barker 0

After Foster + Partners completed a pair of skyscrapers connected by a suspension bridge, Dezeen rounds up a dozen buildings that feature various types of skybridges.
