Kaiji Teahouse is a young brand that integrates youth culture with traditional Chinese tea culture. The store is located on Nanchang Road in the downtown area of Shanghai. The site of the teahouse, Xiangshan Apartment, is an historical building built in 1933 whose ground floor area is planned as retail space. The site of KAIJI teahouse used to be three separated stores. After partial removement of the partitions, the façade spanning 12 meters is opened to the street. The original decoration was entirely demolished, therefore the original structure which was concealed for almost 90 years was finally revealed.

Pergola House’s project involves the expansion of an existing building, creating two new volumes on top of the existing garage and storage room, located at two different levels facing West and North, respectively. The purpose was to assume the expansion works as new, but, at the same time, merge it with the house and surrounding areas. The difference between the existing and the proposed was achieved mainly through the use of different materials, scale of doors, windows and different styled roof.
The project, located on a corner of the internal road of Baoshan Touch Mall, is on the path of the busy passenger flow out of the metro station. Each of the two entrances far apart faces a different road, which makes them lack relevance.

An inventive reworking of a traditional Federation home, Cnr Virginia by Studio Prineas retains the intimacy and scale of the heritage home while overlaying an expansive rear addition for contemporary living. The home’s characterful front facade is faithfully restored, retaining a strong streetscape presence in the home’s coveted inner-eastern suburb of Kensington. Internally, Studio Prineas has preserved the historic bones of the home. Crisp white walls draw focus to era-defining hallmarks, including mellow timber flooring, ornate pressed-tin ceilings, and cast-iron fireplaces.
