The front facade incorporates and highlights the house’s staircase, which stands out in a structural swing and features a large solid brick wall. The volume defined by the shape of the stairs, the lightness of the swing, and the weight of the brick – mark this building with rhythm, shape, structure, and materiality. The shape translates into two parallel volumes split into an area for intimate use and another for social use intersected and connected through the entrance hall.

Segitiga Bermuda Cafe / STUDIÉ

Segitiga Bermuda Cafe is indeed a simple idea from the geometric shape of the triangle itself which is also adapted to the cafe’s brand identity. And finally, we cultivate or implement this triangular building into a different perspective. It can be seen that this triangular building is not oriented directly opposite the road, because it may seem a bit ordinary or general. But the idea is that we tilt this triangular building 45 degrees slightly sideways to the road as if the triangular building seen from the road has a different composition so that passers-by have their own reference or interpretation of the triangular building.

nitially, the impression we got from the street-facing site was that it looked like an exhibition hall that shows the history of the city dwellings of Seoul. Old single-family homes, slightly younger multi-family homes, and tall apartments exist in the same place at the same time, which is obvious but, at the same time, felt unfamiliar and alien. Probably, the artificialness of the neighborhood with absolutely no tree of grass accentuated its “exhibition hall-like” look.

GYUBAN Restaurant / SUBTEXT

The royal table for the emperor only took the best of regional produce. This was not only for the better taste and quality of the ingredient, but to check up on the agriculture of the whole peninsula as well. Korean fine dining restaurant GYUBAN carries on the legacy. The owner chef Kim Ji Young presents customers with authentic Korean royal cuisine. Some restaurants focus on adjusting Korean food to modern tastes, but in GYUBAN, the chef studies and explores every single ingredient in detail through historical research from Chosen culinary manuscript. Chef’s dishes are more of a liaison between the past and present by bringing the tastes of traditional cuisine. This philosophy became the identity of the place.

There are many reasons why we can find plant species inside an architectural space and in almost every one of them is evident the desire of architecture to differentiate itself from the plant and reduce it, at best, to ornamentation contained in an autonomous device called building. Hiding in the process all traces of a common origin. The museum room is one of these places where architecture strives to hide its natural reality in order to become a curtain that hides behind it everything, we think we know. Where the planet disappears to make room only for representations of it.
