Provencher_Roy’s new downtown hub for HEC Montréal has neared completion and is set to open in 2022. The business school’s new center for entrepreneurship and research aims to strengthen the ties between the school and the city’s business community, as well as promote innovative solutions through collaborative programs for students and professionals. The facility will feature theoretical and professional development courses, as well as interdisciplinary and collaborative spaces that tackle new fields in the industry like Artificial Intelligence.

Collective, the centre for contemporary art in Edinburgh, has unveiled a new addition to its facilities, an outdoor play shelter designed by Glasgow-based architects O’DonnellBrown.

To this day, its 18 blocks of terrazzo floors remain in a good state, revealing the longevity and durability of a material able to withstand heavy foot traffic over the course of the century.

The extraordinary site is situated in the Volcanoes National Park in the northwest of Rwanda and borders the Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Uganda. Home to five volcanoes and covered in rainforest and alpine bamboo forests, it is best known as the natural habitat for the critically endangered mountain gorilla.

The White Curtain Reveals Its Presence in the City. The site is surrounded by neighboring buildings on three sides and only one side is revealed towards the road. We designed a building that reveals its presence as a white curtain in the urban setting. Within the building, a café and multi-family housing coexist, and inevitably, hierarchy of lessor and lessee is created. By incorporating a white-curtain-like façade, we tried to alleviate the spatial and visual hierarchies to express a welcoming gesture to visitors and residents.

Twenty years after the first project for the village of Fließ, the architectural firm AllesWirdGut is completing another municipal gem in the Tyrolean community. The new sports and leisure center represents a successful example of how out-migration – a problem with which many rural communities are struggling – can be successfully counteracted. In addition to a spectacular new clubhouse for the local soccer club, tournament and training grounds with spectator stands, tennis and athletics facilities, and the renovation and expansion of the swimming pool were realized. With an incomparable community effort of more than 15,000 hours of voluntary work, the project was realized.
