Hongdae, along with Gangnam, is the most commercially active area in Seoul. An expansive commercial district spans throughout the location with an extensive catalogue of businesses occupying buildings of many types including single- and multi-family houses, shopping complexes, office buildings, mixed-use residential complexes, and galleries, in between streets from every stage of a city’s evolution, from wide main roads to narrow alleyways.

House of calm on a windswept promontory – Sitting on the promontory of this windswept dune and rock peninsula in the Western Cape, a modern dwelling that maximizes views of the ocean and mountains was erected several years ago. The architects were challenged by this Atlantic Ocean house design and were briefed to adopt a starkly exposed glass box to a tranquil private home. 

Tea estates- an active remnant of the British colonial period, present a unique context, carrying with them stories of pride and grandeur as well as inequality, oppression, and struggle. This is acutely reflected in the overall spatial planning of the estates and their architectural styles- ostentatious bungalows for authorities and humble huts for tea workers.

Soosoo Bar is inspired by the shadow of the moon, reflected in a deep pond. Like a hazy dream, the dark moon is simultaneously illuminating and pensive, casting a murky fog over its surroundings while enlightening the senses.

Footsteps is a pre-school designed for the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Palmerston North. It is located on a large property in a commercial/retail area, backing onto a local primary school. The building occupies half the site with car parking and garden areas to the north. The building has been pushed to the street edge to engage with passers-by, different from the ‘big box’ retail outlets nearby, which sit behind large car-parks.
