The 3 Marias House / Bajet Giramé + Burckhardt

July 6, 2021 Agustina Coulleri 0

Three sisters in the Mediterranean: The project enhances—aiming to exaggerate—the ‘courtyard house character of a summer residence from the sixties on the Mediterranean coast of Spain. A house that three sisters in their thirties have decided to share as a summer home. This renovated holiday house is a deliberately ambiguous habitat, between inside and outside, openly diverse, as wide and sunny as intimate and shady; offering coves, topographies, loggias, and gardens, in a spatial continuum that intends to provide a landscape of vitality and delight.

New Affordable Living in the Bronx, Chooses a Luxury Hot Water System

July 6, 2021 Lilly Cao 0

Rooftop water tanks are a familiar part of the New York City skyline, persisting through generations of the city’s rapid growth. Yet despite their nostalgic affect and somehow endearing states of relative decay, their decrepit outward appearances may belie their water’s quality. In 2014, it was found that many of these weathered containers had actually built up layers of grime and that some even contained E. coli. In 2019, the city finally passed legislation mandating annual inspection reports for all drinking water tanks, though these changes are still nascent.

Park Road House / Lineburg Wang

July 6, 2021 Alexandria Bramley 0

The project is sited on a 2200 square meter suburban corner block, a grand two-storey existing Queenslander enveloped by significant trees, a lap pool, deck, and tennis court. While generous in scale and without lacking in the program, layers of intervention through time resulted in each public room and external feature being disconnected in isolation. A diluted organisational diagram with deep rooms and no outlook, the clients sought a renovation to privilege outdoor living, fitting to their active social lifestyle in retirement and suited to comfortably bring friends and family together at times of celebration.

Above Board Living / Luigi Rosselli Architects

Where the land meets the sea the blue expanse of ocean and sky is a magnet for humanity, the Blue Planet Dwellers; this home, created for a family reaching maturity, with adult children and parents deeply passionate about good design, expressed through their creation and manufacture of accessories for daily life, aimed to remove barriers to that irresistible attraction. They craved the ability to live their lives intimately connected to the nearby Bronte Beach and the Pacific Ocean horizon beyond; to watch the morning sun rise from its depths and be immersed in the conditions of the surf and sea breezes rising from the water.
