Bus-Stop – Perception Duality of a Transportation Stop
The National Chiao Tung University, situated in the windy city of Hsinchu, is a premium university that many top students congregate. Most of students commute to the university via buses, the bus station is meaningful and memorable for these commuting students during their learning journey. In recent years, the on-campus bus-stops have undergone renovations while the university carries out its campus renovation initiatives with reductive aesthetics discourse. The site of the bus-stop, situated near the south gate of the campus, is an important transportation node that connects the in and out of the campus.

Zhangrun Office Buildings / Scenic Architecture Office

Designof High-rise buildings often brings up questions about the relationship between “Tower” and “Podium”. This pre-conceived classification comes from their obvious difference in height. Zhangrun Office Buildings is located in Zhangjiang High-tech Park, Shanghai. Besides 42,000-square-meter research and development office, the project also houses 1,500-square-meter commercial facilities. In this project, we tried to change the typical Form-type of tower and podium to improve customer experience and bring extra value to the client.

This house is located in a small village in Azeitao, south of Lisbon. Protected by hills from the Atlantic Ocean, the area has a mild Mediterranean microclimate, creating the ideal conditions for growing grapes, producing some of the country’s finest wines.

Beyond the basic criteria that a commercial-multi residential project must meet, the architecture also has to make a unique statement by inducing a perceived image and emotional value to support the commercial side. The always conflicting aspect of the practicality and the emotional becomes the design driver for this project. The goal then is to soften the cold, solid boxy nature of the condominium building by introducing another layer of building façade that acts like clothing to the building. Fine ‘petal’ facade elements envelop & create a subtle layer of visual hierarchy like floral arrangement. The thin hard steel trellis becomes soft and delicate elements when looking from distance. The angled placement enhances the depth and create subtle shade & shadows.
