Yangpyeong-dong, one of the most active urban revitalization areas in recent years, is mostly semi-industrial, with factories that used to focus on steel and manufacturing, and features an aging residential area consisting of multi-family households. In these neighborhoods, Dots, a design company, wanted to remodel an old detached house and use it as its office building.
Perched midway up the ridge-line on one of the last remaining greenfield sites in the idyllic seaside village of Umdloti, boasting magnificent 180 degree views up and down the coastline. This contemporary beach-side home is designed to be an entertainer’s dream, with expansive open plan living areas at ground level, all parallel to the coastline setting up perfect picture frame views of the seaside from every room in the house.

The Victorian Society conservation group is attempting to stop construction of a zip wire in Liverpool, which would end at a listed building within the city’s UNESCO World Heritage Site. The charity has applied to the UK’s High Court to have a judicial review into Liverpool council’s decision to grant planning permission for the attraction.

Some solutions only get sweeter when you sprinkle in a few extra layers of difficulties into the mix. This Master Suite addition had the typical site challenges, zoning restrictions, and budgetary constraints that architects are all too familiar with, but what made this project uniquely differently was the client’s willingness to explore unconventional solutions.
The owners of the “Taquinho Apartment” love Brasilia and found an excellent apartment in one of the first superblocks built in the modernist city. With an original wooden parquet floor, large windows and generous ceilings, the apartment had imminent potential, but needed a good renovation with reorganization of the flows and room divisions to accommodate the new family needs. As they often receive visits, the residents needed a large social area that would fit family and friends together. The starting point was the integration of the living room with the dining room and kitchen by demolishing the main wall, transforming the whole area into one space.

“Casa Joy” is a project developed by Rodrigo Ferreira, a talented young architect from central Brazil, deeply connected to the integration of nature and design and to a particular stylish use of light. This modern oriental concrete, glass and wood luxurious villa was built to an unconventional, cultured active lady on her mid 70s and her family, to serve as a retreat and a gathering point for all of them.
