The site is located at a place called Pyeongdae-ri, which has a wide and flat land (Jeju language: Bengdi) that continues to the beach from the beautiful Bijarim Forest of Jeju Island. The client wanted a space where they could live in and make a profit. They needed to be able to run accommodations and provide the food for guest themselves, and each space had to be distinctly divided for the guests’ privacy nevertheless organically connected for the ease of management. The architectural spaces that are divided and settled within an atypical site naturally create some unexpected yards of different personalities, and as those yards intertwined with each other, we were able to vaguely contain the transforming spatial personality of Olle Trails that lead to traditional Jeju houses.

Playstudios offices, planned and designed by RUST Architects, are located in a complex of three industrial buildings in south Tel Aviv, which served as an exhibition and events hall and an old sewing workshop of Kastiel, Israel’s oldest high-end furniture company. Unlike most of new high-tech offices in Tel Aviv, which are located in new towers, the planning required the design of an existing industrial complex, constructed of beams, concrete pillars, and wide windows that are open to a large inner courtyard with its old tree and climbing plants that are synonymous with the complex.
Foster + Partners has completed and reimagined the Apple store in Sanlitun, an urban quarter in Beijing, China. Originally built in 2008, Apple’s first store in China has relocated, in proximity to the older building, taking on more social aspects, and generating a “new dialogue with the surrounding pedestrian streets, addressing the large open square that is a social focus for the district”.
