Hjorthagen Sports Hall / AIX Arkitekter

The Gasworks area in Hjorthagen is undergoing a transformation. On behalf of the Stockholm Sports Administration and the city of Stockholm, during the fall of 2015, AIX Arkitekter continued its proposal from 2008 to build a sports hall located between Hjorthagen’s sports field and Gasverksvägen. The completed hall is now a link between the old district of Hjorthagen, the new Royal Sea Port, and the Gasworks area.

The state is also situated on the Sierra Madre Occidental and is home to a segment of the Colorado River, as well as the Grand Canyon. Part of Aridoamerica, Arizona’s landscape is composed, in its majority, of Cactaceae and desert species.

Terrazas Tadeo Building / Taller Eduardo Audirac + Enrique Ramon Ríos

Two twin towers contain 24 one- and two-storey housing units which solve a variety of typologies: 4 pent-garden units (containing private gardens), 16 terraced apartments with hanging gardens, and 4 pent-houses (2-storey, double-height units). As amenities, the project includes a common garden and a reception/multi-purpose room on the ground floor. Each tower tops off with a roof garden, jacuzzi and a viewing platform overlooking Puebla’s volcanoes, Cholula’s pyramid and the San Juan hill.

Spaces for Communication: Improving Connections and Care in the Built Environment

For several years, Rosi Pachilova has been looking into and building upon the tools we use to analyse and configure layouts for our built environment. Together with Dr Kerstin Sailer, a reader in Social and Spatial Networks at the Space Syntax Laboratory, UCL, she has developed a tool that can assess spatial proposals for their impact on the quality of care of healthcare providers. In 2019, their work was awarded the RIBA President’s Award for Research in the Building in Quality category.

Office Building Givaudan / Ernst Niklaus Fausch Partner

A history of building upwards. Conversion and refurbishment of a former soup-filling and crate-nailing plant into 200 high-quality workplaces for Givaudan AG. The former industrial site of the Maggi company on the railway line between Winterthur and Zurich, with its distinctive brick architecture is an important testimony to the industrial history of Switzerland and is classified as a preservation site, ISOS Type A. Ernst Niklaus Fausch Partner AG have developed the master plan and new layout for the site, which forms the basis for the opening-up and revitalisation of the area. The building The former soup-bottling and crate-nailing plant from Debrunner+Blankart Architects, which is a listed cantonal monument, is a striking brick building with staircase cores emphasising its corners.

Mactan Cebu International Airport T2 / Integrated Design Associates

Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) is the second largest airport in the Philippines. To meet traffic demands a new Terminal 2 for international traffic is planned to supplement the existing Terminal 1, which will be converted to Domestic use when T2 completes. Hong Kong-based architect, Integrated Design Associates, was invited to design the new terminal. The expanded facility is expected to transform MCIA from a city airport to a world-class international hub, as the main gateway to the central Philippine region.
