This project is a small atelier-style house (87.23㎡) that will be built along the Tokaido Road that Hiroshige has walked and drawn. And this house is home to three generations of painter, his wife, infant and husband’s mother. The design began with the idea of transmitting a large exhibition wall for decorating his work to the city with a maximum length on the diagonal of the site, and decided to separate the living area from the atelier with the exhibition wall.

SNOW 5319 is a neighborhood living facility construction built in the back alley that has stepped back from the border between the bustling Nonhyeon-dong and Cheongdam-dong. An alley with a mixture of old and newly built buildings (that are no longer maintained) is a place where diversity and congestion coexist. From bricks to stone tiles and concrete exposures, the exterior wall materials and color selection used in the building was a difficult task in this alley affecting the landscape with various exterior wall materials. Through constant meetings with the owners, the color of the exterior wall was decided as white, which can be the basis of the structure as it is, and white will serve as a milestone in the landscape of the alley.

Shenzhen Yunhai School sits on the Wutong Mt. in the southwestern hinterland of the Yantian Port, overlooking the winding coastline of Yantian on the southeast. While the project enjoys fascinating mountain and sea views, the site complexity and height difference have to be properly addressed in design. Along with the increasing residential development and rapid population growth in recent years, Yantain, a leading district of Guangdong Province in education, has exerted more efforts on the management and construction of basic educational infrastructure. In this 9-year school comprising 24 elementary school classes and 12 middle school classes, high-density building volume and mixeduse functions are efficiently integrated to create multi-level outdoor spaces through concise and restrained architectural expression, and respond to the complexity in and beyond the site.

This leather shop is located in Honmachi, the business district of Osaka. They handle leather products made by craftsmen who have craftsmanship from all over Japan where the owner has visited so far. The shop has an adjoining the owner’s writing space who is also a columnist, and a workshop where leather craftsmen from Oita can handle orders on the spot.
