Officially opening on July 25, the international wine exhibition is part of a broader program of initiatives sponsored by the Chinese government for the 11th International Conference on Grapevine Breeding and Genetics, scheduled to take place in China for the first time from July 28 to August 2. The conference is an international event with a worldwide scope covering issues related to agriculture and grapevine cultivation, in particular, taken as a key to developing contemporary wine culture. The exhibition garden covers almost 200 hectares designed and built for the occasion with artificial lakes, greenhouses, museums, gardens, a visitor center, landscape towers and bridges that enhance the visibility and use of this garden near the Great Wall.

“Villa 174” is located in Khezershahr north of Iran with a mild climate. Khezershahr town is in the coastal city of Babolsar and spreads across the north to the south side of the city belt. The “Villa 174” is on the south side. Constructed on a grid base with specific regulations applied to it. The layout of each building block is determined by the town’s construction codes e.g. the maximum height of each villa is 9 meters. The external material is to be cement render or timber and fences should not be masonry.

Located in close proximity to the MTA Exposition Line Expo / Western station, the project is situated along a bustling commercial corridor of neighborhood-serving mom-and-pop shops on Western Blvd. The project illustrates a diagrammatic approach to design, starting with the essential building blocks of the program, which are then shaped by the external constraints that act upon it. The project provides 16 two- and three-bedroom units for families and 16 one-bedroom units for homeless veterans.
