The Bucherer store is among one of the “Individuals” on the eastern-side of Bahnhofstrasse. Its peculiarity in bright natural stone is an important continuation of the character of the area. Rooted in the greenery of the village of Fatqa, 6 Kms away from the Beirut – Tripoli Highway, House K is a private residence built through maximal fusion with its surroundings. The 780sqm plot, is located at an alleyway’s dead end and originally made up of six planted terraces of 1meter height each. The place’s natural charm highlighted by its authentic local stonewalls, was the main inspiration behind the architectural design. In this iteration, the project is articulated as a landscape extension of the existing topography through the reconstruction of these walls in order to inhabit and cap them; two large concrete slabs were created to do the trick.

Distinctly identifiable by its stepped terraces and red striated facade, the Crescent School of Architecture occupies a relatively small lot of the 60-acre university campus, in Vandalur, Chennai. The project brief envisioned studio spaces along with lecture halls and administration areas – which we chose to augment with necessary ‘de-programmed’ spaces for collective working and gathering. This allowed for the exploration of redefining not only the nature of spaces found in an architecture school but also offering us the possibility to inform the future pedagogic program that it could accommodate. Typically, a school would house endless corridors with rooms on either side. Spaces offering opportunity for discussions and chance encounter is severely limited, which in turn confines its users to following a dreary routine.
at the heart of the building is a double-height, open space, ‘the street’, that symbolically connects all teams together.
