Up Yard House / Architects H2L

September 1, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

Project site was the third land where clients and architects had their heads together. The young couple in their early 30s, who wanted to find joyous inconvenience in their own home away from the agreed uniformity overshadowed by life and convenience in their apartments, took their young daughter’s hand and carefully sought the architect. As a result, the designers had to not only think about integrating natural and cultural landscape resources into the design thinking, but also about making connections to overseas Chinese.

Tree Courtyard / MAT Office

The project is located at Qianfuxiang, a quiet Hutong in Beijing historical area. There is also an old Chinese scholar tree right at the center of the venue, dominating the whole inner courtyard. The building was built in 1990s, originally for office use, and need to be converted to a new youth apartment that is able to host 100 rooms. Our proposition was to make an exterior space design in such a tough environment condition.
