Biwon: The Secret Garden House / UTAA

Unlike the Cheongdam Sageori(crossroads) which has wide roads and colorful buildings, Biwon’s site is located at the hill crossing which is on a 6-meter road. Buildings under redevelopment around narrow roads made the horizontal space more stuffy with uniform and dense mass and darkened the scenery of the landscape with their own closed language. The first task was to solve the stuffiness of the earth and has street expansion and vitality.

Maku Poke Stop in Cancun by WeWi

Mexican studio WeWi aimed to replicate a “magical hidden beach” inside this restaurant in Cancun, Mexico, which features greenery growing from large colourful concrete pots and metallic objects hanging from the ceiling. Located on the Mexican city’s Avenida Bonampak, Maku Poke Stop serves up the traditional Hawaiian raw fish dish poke with a Mexican touch.

Designed by Mexican-born architect Francisco Gonzalez Pulido of Chicago-based FGP Atelier, the Alfredo Harp Helú stadium is the country’s largest baseball facility to date with 20,000 seats—a drastic difference from its home team’s previous home, the 5,200-seat Estadio Fray Nano. A baseball aficionado, part team owner, and renowned Mexican businessman and philanthropist, Helú’ tapped Gonzalez Pulido to design a world-class facility replete with all of the services and amenities for its team and its followers, but with the grander intention of reinvigorating the sport in Mexico and fostering a sense of community and culture.

The LC house is located to the eastern side of Santiago, Chile. It is built on the upper part of a slope making it higher than street level. Maximizing the most of this condition, a street-level entrance to underground parking was built. The house entrance is accessible through a flight of stairs which start at the street and ascends until it reaches the main access.
