In 1833 the town of Northam was gazetted; with the Ballardong Noongar people suffering intense and bloody repression until 1841 when relations became generally peaceful. In 1905 The Aborigines Act allowed the State to have complete control of ‘protection, control and segregation of Aboriginal people’ and in 1933 the whole Aboriginal population of the town was exiled to the Moore River Native Settlement- some 200 km away and in another “country”.

Residential Tower 28 / Hill West Architects

Tower 28 in Long Island City, designed by Hill West Architects and Whitehall Interiors, is one of Queens’ tallest residential towers. The 57-story rental is comprised of two connected segments: the soaring tower on 28th Street housing 451 residential units and a smaller building on 27th Street solely dedicated to amenities, including a pool, a fitness center, spa, sauna and yoga studio. The two segments are connected on the 2nd floor by a covered breezeway and share a versatile roof deck that can be opened in summer months via a Nanawall to the pool in the amenity building.

Architect Marilia Pellegrini presents the CASA CONTÊINER ( The container house) at the 2019 Casacor exhibition in São Paulo,  showing how is possible to transform shipping containers into a modern and functional house. The concept of this type of project is based on the sustainability and reuse of materials. The time-frame for elaboration and execution of this model of construction is infinitely smaller, cleaner, faster, dry and with 100% reuse. Despite the many advantages, there is still a certain mistrust created, motivated especially by the popularization of industrial and simple finishes for this type of building, creating cold and impersonal environments due to the physical final aspects of construction. Her first mission was to prove the opposite.

Alosno is a small village in “Andévalo”, a subregion of the Province of Huelva in the southwest of Spain. It is a place known for a special type of Flamenco music called Fandango, world-famous charcuterie Jamón Ibérico, and close proximity to the mines of Tharsis, and thus to its English colonial architecture. In this context, we were commissioned to design a single family house, described as “traditional” by our clients.
