Floating Farm Dairy / Goldsmith Company

June 24, 2019 Andreas Luco 0

Floating Farm Dairy produces, processes and distributes dairy products in the city, close to its consumers. It brings producer and consumer closer together, adds to shorter supply chains and awareness of city residents. Urban waste flows are upgraded from residual product to valuable ingredients cow feed. Brewers grains, potato scraps and grass clippings from the Feyenoord football stadium are all part of the menu. This adds to urban recycling and constitutes a fairly efficient form of food production. The Floating Farm Dairy is the first step to subsequently planned ‘Foodstrip’ in which a wider range of food production will be represented.

Colinas do Cruzeiro Islamic Cultural Centre / Estúdio AMATAM

June 24, 2019 Andreas Luco 0

There are territories, buildings, spaces that represent more than just their physical and material dimension. They have the ability to create sensations and appeal to our spirit and our imagination, in a constant dialogue between the sacred and the profane. Our intention for this Islamic Cultural Centre – located in Colinas do Cruzeiro, Odivelas – was to provide the space with spatial and symbolic qualities that potentially could create in the visitor an awareness of the mystic and the sacred. Being a space dedicated to spread the Islamic identity, it is also a space for the whole community, a space for dialogue and sharing of culture and knowledge. Therefore, the program for this Centre had to contemplated an exhibition space, a space for dissemination of literature, a meeting/studding room, and a male and female prayer space.

Sitting roughly 20 kilometers from the city of Devonport, Shearwater has gained significant momentum as a Tasmanian summer holiday destination in recent years, with its pristine beaches and Narawntapu National Park just a short paddle across the port. Shearwater House, sitting in a prime position on Shearwater Esplanade, was designed to take full advantage of this special location. Beginning with a podium-like form, Shearwater House subtly peaks above the sand dunes and low-line shrubbery.

SND Store / Various Associates

June 23, 2019 Collin Chen 0

From the architectural dimension, the store is designed to be a medium where customers can explore the relation between body and space. The layout is pure and simple, with a symbolic “milestone” placed at the center right on the central-axis. The “milestone” holds an obvious implication —— a new starting point for SND to move towards an internationally representative buyer’s shop. In addition, the church-like architectural form serve as an embodiment of SND’s brand belief, which is to strike a balance between keeping the brand personality and catching on the fashion trends. The open display area on both sides resembles a square. Through its unique layout, customers can know clearly the routes and can view every product in display while walking, offering them a chance to select and compare goods easily.

Nohara Terrace / Lucas Takaoka

June 23, 2019 Pilar Caballero 0

The main concept of this Project was to create a space that in terms of geometry is minimal and clean, transmitting the sensation of peace and relaxation to the visitor. That’s how Nohara(“field” in Japanese) Terrace was born, surrounded by the landscape design and mixing internal and external areas as one. As it is a 20sqm², this kind of solution construction would look even bigger this way. The wooden structure is made of pure Brazilian pinus, designed to be easly built or unbuilt at any place, minimizing material waste. The wall coverings and floor are made of concrete material, creating a pleasant contrast of warm and cold textures.

Paddock Brow Guesthouse / Blee Halligan Architects

June 23, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

Designed for a family member returning to the UK after many years abroad, the building is conceived both as a fluidly connected addition whilst on occasion a self-contained and private guesthouse. The current house benefits from a substantial garden with mature planting and a delightful apple orchard. The new scheme is unapologetically contemporary, yet sensitive to the garden setting, ensuring that the new mass and bulk does not detract from the existing landscape.
