Another expanded site for the Starter Home* thesis, the 9th Street development is comprised of 12 homes, with 10 single-family and one two-family, occupying an existing warehouse and vacant parcel. The zoning for this transitioning industrial edge required abnormally large lot minimums for single-family structures. This mandated a tactic that leveraged the density allowed under multi-family developments but organized the site as a single-family assemblage.
London-based photographer Joanne Underhill has attempted to save Welbeck Street car park in a “small way” with a new series of colour photos. Underhill first captured the London building in 2013, for a photography project called Beautiful Brutalism, but was motivated to document it more throughly after discovering it was due to be torn down

The chapel is built on the campus of ‘CIAAR: Center for Integration and Improvement of Aeronautics, where people from different university backgrounds train to serve as officers, working in their respective professions. The urbanistic plan for the complex, and its 22 buildings, was done by João Diniz Arquitetura, and the chapel is there as one of the places that can be frequented by the neighboring communities.

Laminated wood and concrete will form the hybrid structural system of the high-rise Canada’s Earth Tower that global firm Perkins+Will has unveiled for British Columbia. The project, called Canada’s Earth Tower, is planned for a 1.3-acre (0.5-hectare) property along Eighth Avenue near Vancouver’s Burrard Slopes neighbourhood. New York-based Jendretzki Design has created a proposal for an off-grid eco resort for New York’s Rat Island. Sited on the only isle off the city’s Bronx borough that’s privately owned, the project was made as prefab gabled cabins with large glass facades overlooking the ocean. Designed with zero-energy buildings, the site would run on solar and wind power with rainwater collection systems.
