Lhasa is known as the city of sunshine, which very important element in the living behavior of a family. But light doesn’t mean unlimited one. It points to the controlled light and designed light. In traditional Tibetan living space, the control of light is reflected in the vernacular Tibetan living between “winter room” that the lower window is small, which is good for keeping warm, and “summer room” that the upper window is large, which is good for ventilation. So the traditional Tibetan courtyard is often an introverted space, and creates an intimate, solemn and dignified atmosphere. Tibetan People’s daily life and faith were formed in courtyard houses, where are traditionally surrounded by thick walls and pure colors. Unfortunately, undergoing a drastic modernization process nowadays, they are conflicted with the needs of young Tibetan generations.

In the rapidly growing 7th district of Taichung (Taiwan), Treasure Garden provides lavish living spaces and generous common areas in an elegant Italian fashion, paying homage to the masterful geometrics of Giò Ponti. The architecture and interior design for the latest residential building by Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel create a unified design framework with elongated lattice patterns and a contrasting yet delicate color palette with metallic elements. The design concept for the development inserts a clear, unique and figurative residential element at a prime location of the city.
The spatial design of this project was inspired by Eichler homes. The elements of nature and lighting were introduced into the interior space to emphasize the interaction and connection between spaces. Glass was used to create compartments illuminated by light, generating simple lines that enable an unobstructed view of the surrounding environment. Natural materials used herein correspond to the design spirit of contemporary buildings, demonstrating the attributes of modern design. Within a small space, a building with excellent lighting, views, and circulation is erected. The therapeutic elements of nature and inspirations from arts are presented, allowing residents to enjoy everyday life.
