Renzo Piano’s Academy Museum Nears Completion in Los Angeles

The Academy of Motion Pictures Museum by Renzo Piano Building Workshop is nearing completion along the Miracle Mile in Los Angeles. Piano’s design consists of the renovation of the May Company department store located at the corner of Fairfax and Wilshire, as well as a new glass sphere addition that will house the 1,000-seat David Geffen Theater. Set for opening this year, the project aims to become the world’s premier institution dedicated to movies.

3000 House / Rebelo Andrade

Herdade da Considerada is a tract of arid land with 500 hectares, about seven kilometers from Alcácer do Sal, dotted with cork oaks and umbrella pines. The resulting landscape is uniform in every direction and, as the architect Luís Rebelo de Andrade found on a preliminary visit, it is easier to lose your car at Herdade da Considerada than in a supermarket carpark.

ASWA search for the balance between the project’s objectives and limitations into the creation of the innovative looking geometry for Bitwise Headquarters, in Samutprakarn, Thailand. Bitwise is a manufacturer of air conditioners whose long track record and experience in the industry in Thailand. Their Headquarters design was realized from the conceptual organization’s image and identity.

Cutting Space / zohome

This was a design planning project for Aufait Hair Salon in an old-style apartment in Taipei. During the communication process with the hair stylists, we gained a full understanding of the usage and configuration of space required for hair styling. In the 97 square-meter space, we regard hair styling as a means of expressing the layout of space; thus, we re-tailored, thinned-out, and re-allocated the possibilities of the salon space from the inside out.
