Casa Carrara has, in a less obvious way, a certain sculptural character that is present in both Casa Colunata and Casa Elíptica, where the curved and dynamic forms are treated like a volume sculpted from a rough block that has been brought to life. In Casa Carrara, more angular and longer forms are sculpted in a parallelepiped where, without losing their origin, full and empty spaces coexist as living areas.  To be noted is the terrace, more than thirty meters long, which functions as an embellishment or a pinnacle – but one that is paradoxically horizontal – the finishing element in an architectural ensemble.

Background of the project
The project is located in Pudong, Shanghai. It is the basement of a typical Shanghai old mansion in the 90’s. It has all the typical features of Shanghai’s “Old and Small”. In addition to the two mothers and sons, the owner has 40 cats and 2 dogs. Everyone is crowded together to live in this 48m2 ground floor space. The entire space is full of cages, and human space is backlogged by extreme limits. This has also caused The contradiction between mother and son arises. At the same time, due to the high density of human pets, the light is dim, and various smells are mixed together, making the air quality very poor, and the health conditions are very embarrassing.

The client would like to raise an independent and inventive child, enjoy a kitchen garden in a broad yard, live in a house which could adapt to the change of family structure and their interests. To make those requests happen, the client has moved to the suburbs, and this house was built with various creative ideas.

This is a large addition and alterations project and there are 4 main components to the project – the Italianate Terrace House for the family, the Historic Sandstone stables as guest quarters (and later for ageing parents), the new concrete carport with landscaped roof terrace along with the gardens and the swimming pool located in a conservation area of Surry Hills, Sydney, Australia.

The owners of this restaurant were a young married couple who was starting a business in cuisine. The plot situated right next to Highway 6 with a busy everyday traffic flow. The client wants an environment-friendly design solution, taking people and landscape into consideration. Cao Phong is a mountainous town in Hoa Binh Province.
