The project in Chr. Tomter’s veg in Rælingen represents a careful and deliberate expansion of a modest traditional home into a rich and spatially complex residence for a large and active family. The original house, a small red-painted wooden dwelling with white-framed windows in a popular and romantic vernacular style, was cherished by the owners for its character and familiarity. Their ambition was to preserve that charm while increasing the living area and creating a variety of new spaces suited to contemporary family life.

Concrete Curtain House / FGR Architects

March 21, 2026 Miwa Negoro 0

Concrete Curtain House by FGR Architects is a poetic response to suburban complexity, offering a refined, layered architectural experience. Conceived as a “slow reveal,” the design draws metaphorically from the pleated curtain—expressed in rippling concrete columns that create a façade both private and open, structured yet fluid. Rather than mimic Japanese modernism, the home interprets it with restraint, using concrete and glass as its primary, expressive materials.

Casa Ladera is located on a steep hillside facing Lake Puyehue in southern Chile, within a temperate rainforest of native hualle trees. We understand the site not as a difficulty to overcome, but as the condition that structures the project. The slope defines the volumetric strategy, the support system, and the programmatic organization.

In the heart of downtown Redmond, a new kind of library has taken shape—one that reflects the city’s growth, diversity, and future-forward vision. Designed by The Miller Hull Partnership with local firm Steele Associates, in collaboration with Deschutes Public Library (DPL), the two-story, mass timber building more than doubles the size of the previous library and reimagines it as a vibrant, flexible, and inclusive civic space.
