Located in the Chacras de la Cruz neighborhood, Capilla del Señor, this weekend home seeks to portray nature and engage with it; with windows that transform into wide frames of a rural environment that becomes extensive with the interior and inspires the study to create a morphology that replicates the rural preexistences.

Located in the small settlement of Bowentown, on the Bay of Plenty in New Zealand’s North Island and placed within a rugged coastal landscape, the Bowentown Bach utilizes its surroundings to create a space of refuge that looks out onto the vast foredunes and ocean ahead. This eroded singular form sits on the threshold of a seaside subdivision and coastal wilderness.  The unique concept for this dwelling takes inspiration from a piece of driftwood. Washed up, weathered, and charred from an unsuccessful beach fire, gradually receding into the dunes.  Incisions reveal golden hues of protected, untouched inner wood.  The Bowentown Bach is designed to resemble this, creating a warm and inviting living space.

An art collector’s residence in Riebeek-Kasteel – Our clients are art enthusiasts who, over many years, built up a notable collection of South African Art. Their dream was to build a home in South Africa where they could display their art. Their brief was simple: design a live-in art gallery. First, it was to be an art gallery and, secondly, a home—the setting for their vision – the quaint town of Riebeek Kasteel. The couple fell in love with the town itself and the thriving local art community, and the ERF location on the village’s main road would make it possible for the public to enjoy the collection on occasion.

The 600-year-old ancient village of Langtou is located in the northern suburbs of Guangzhou. As a well-knownaccomplished scholars village,” Langtou has many well-preserved old architectural spaces, such as academies of classical learning, ancestral temples, vernacular houses, streets, and alleys,. The word “lang” originally meant the marshland next to the river, and its meaning also extends to lakes or ponds. The ancient village is surrounded by numerous ponds: lotus ponds, fish ponds, and Feng Shui ponds; when the breeze stirs the lotus leaves, it makes a beautiful scenery of Lingnan (south of the Five Mountains) water landscape. ChunYangTai, which we designed, is situated in a lotus pond outside the ancient village.
